Resetting the configuration password in FotoStation

Overview

This article explains how you can reset the password that protects FotoStation's configuration if you have forgotten it.

Password reset procedure

The configuration file that contains your password in encrypted form is called fsSystemData.xml.

In Windows, this files is usually found in your user profile folder, typically C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Fotoware\FotoStation\Configuration\General.

On the Mac you will find it in ~/Library/Preferences/Fotoware/FotoStation/Configuration/General

To reset the password, quit FotoStation, then delete the fsSystemData.xml file, then restart FotoStation. Your configuration will be preserved, but you will lose such information as your recent quicksearch history and other logged information.
