1 Windows Server must be installed with a GUI. FotoWeb is not supported on Windows Server Core.
2 FotoWeb requires a Microsoft SQL server for reporting. You can connect to an existing inhouse SQL server, or you can download a recent version of SQL Server Express (external link to Microsoft's website). Keep in mind that the Express version has a database size limit of 10GB.
Learn more about connecting to the SQL server in the Configuring the site database topic.
Tip: It is possible to omit using a SQL server altogether if you do not wish to use activity logging. In this case, you should take care to disable all activity logging in the site configuration.
3 These software components will be downloaded automatically during installation unless already installed on the system. When running FotoWeb on Windows Server 2012 R2 or 2016, it is necessary to also apply the latest .NET 3.5 security patches.
Access to SMTP Email Server

Important information about system logging
All FotoWare applications report to the FotoWare Log Server which is installed alongside the server application. The communications between the server application and the log server uses UDP port 7000. Since the communications takes place internally on the server, you do not need to open UPD port 7000 in your firewall. However, you should be aware the Microsoft's DNS server can be configured to use arbitrary ports for communications, which could potentially interfere communications with the Log Server if it should come to use UDP port 7000.
Hence, you should make sure to prevent the use of port 7000 in the DNS server and make that port exclusive for FotoWare applications.
Ports that may require changes to firewall configurations
A complete overview of the ports used by FotoWeb and the surrounding FotoWare ecosystem is published in the Before you install FotoWeb topic.
