Tracking site activity with Google Analytics

Learn how to enable Google Analytics for your Fotoware site to track user navigation patterns. Also find links to resources to get started with Google Analytics.

Note: Built-in support for external tracking tools is deprecated and will be set to End of Life on April 1st, 2024. These tools include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and PIWIK.

Enabling Google Analytics on your site

The key benefit of using Google Analytics is to learn how users navigate your site by tracking page loads.

Before you can enable Google Analytics on the Fotoware site, you need a unique tracking code. You can obtain this tracking code from your Google Analytics account.

When you have the code, open the Fotoware site configuration.

  1. From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site Configuration Reporting > Tracking.
  2. Paste the tracking code into the GAnalytics Tracking Code field and select Save. Because of Fotoware caching mechanisms, it can take a little while to propagate the changes.
  3. If you also have a Google Tag Manager (GTM) account, paste the Tag Manager container ID into the Google Tag Manager container ID field.

Adding a Google Analytics tracking code to the FotoWeb site

If you're not familiar with Google Analytics and/or Google Tag Manager, see Google Analytics Academy (external link) for more information.
