Virus scanning uploaded assets (Legacy)

Legacy note:

This feature is deprecated and will be discontinued on July 1, 2021. Versions released after that date will not contain this feature.

This topic describes how to enable site-wide virus scanning of all assets uploaded to your FotoWeb DAM system.

This functionality is configured under Site - Services - Virus scanning in the FotoWeb site configuration.

How virus scanning works in FotoWeb

Virus scanning can be enabled for files that are uploaded to FotoWeb, and infected files are placed in a quarantine area.

Locate the virus scanner executable using the Browse button and set any desired parameters that the virus scanner requires. FotoWeb will trigger the virus scanner executable once for every file and insert the file name where you have specified the %1 variable in the Scan Command field.

An important thing to remember is that many virus scanners will perform a memory check every time they run. This can usually be avoided by specifying a flag in the scan command. If you do not do so, you may find that the system appears very sluggish, since a full memory scan is run every time a new file is scanned.

If you need assistance with finding the correct command-line parameters for your virus scanner, consult your virus scanner documentation.
