Applying metadata using an extended marker
Note: This feature is only available when using extended markers. Extended markers are only available to Fotoware Main Users and Fotoware Pro Users.
When configuring an extended marker, you can make it interactive so that when a user clicks it, a metadata macro is applied, or a metadata editor is revealed to let the user enter metadata in preset fields. This way, you can, for example, change the workflow state of the assets.
Defining metadata fields that users can edit
- Open the marker's properties and go to the Action tab.
- Turn on the Show metadata editor toggle.
- Add the fields you want to expose to the user. For each field, you can choose to Clear the existing content and/or to mark it as required before the user may continue.
- Select Save.
Tip: If the metadata field has a taxonomy associated with it, users can select predefined entries from the taxonomy when the editor opens. If you select QL only (see above) the user will only be able to select from the predefined taxonomy entries and will not be able to enter custom tags in the field. This is one way to ensure metadata consistency.
Applying metadata using a macro
- Open the marker's properties and go to the Action tab.
- Select Apply Metadata Macro and add the fields you want to update.
- Select the operation to execute ( append, prepend, or replace) from the Operation drop-down list and insert the new value in the field.
- Select Save.
Tip: To clear a field with a macro, add the field and choose Replace, then simply leave the Value field blank.
