License server log says "Unsupported"


The Fotoware License Server log reports "Unsupported". Why?


This can happen in configurations where online activation is used in combination with a license server. It is not critical in most cases.

For example, when using a Fotoware License Server to manage FotoStation Client licenses, it's common to run the license server software on the Index Manager server. When Index Manager is started, it will query the license server to try checking out a valid license. Because the license server only has licenses for FotoStation, it will throw an Unsupported message in the log. Index Manager will then proceed to check the local trusted storage for a valid license, locate it, and then start up.


The easiest workaround for this is to install and run the Fotoware License Server software on a server that does not also run other Fotoware software.
