Disabling leading wildcard characters
Learn how to configure Index Manager to ignore searches that start with wildcard characters.
Disabling leading search characters
Search strings that begin with a wildcard character (#, *, and?) often result in very long search times and, in turn, cause the system to appear less responsive.
You can configure Index Manager to ignore search queries that begin with a wildcard character. This means that any search that starts with a wildcard character is ignored and returns zero matches.
- In Index Manager Settings, open the Advanced tab for the relevant index.
- Select Disable leading search characters.
- Select Save.
