Copying and pasting metadata
You can copy all metadata from one asset and paste selected fields into other assets.
- Select the asset containing the metadata you want to copy.
- Select Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows or Command+Shift+C on Mac to copy all metadata from the selected asset.
- Select the assets to which you want to apply the metadata.
- Go to Edit > Paste into and select the clipboard filter that contains the fields you want to paste.
Note
The selected filter controls which fields are applied to the target assets. Any existing metadata in those fields is overwritten by the paste operation.
Select Ctrl+Shift+V on Windows or Command+Shift+V on Mac to paste metadata using the last filter selected from the Paste into menu.
You can access the same commands from the Edit menu:
- Copy metadata copies all metadata from the selected asset.
- Paste metadata uses the last selected clipboard filter.
- Paste into lets you select a specific filter.
- Manage clipboard filters opens the clipboard filter manager.
Managing clipboard filters
Go to Edit > Manage clipboard filters to create, edit, and delete clipboard filters.

Clipboard filters let you control which metadata fields are pasted to target assets, making it easier to apply only the information you need.
In the filter manager, you can:
- Create a filter with the + button.
- Rename the selected filter with the edit button.
- Delete a filter with the - button.
- Select the metadata fields included in each filter.
- Use Select none to clear all selected fields.
The Default filter is available alongside any custom filters you create. Each filter can contain a different set of metadata fields, such as common fields, custom fields, keywords and categories, location information, or title and caption fields.
