If you have already configured multiple archives in Fotoware Veloz, you can use Create Fotoware Veloz archives to add them to Fotostation in a single operation, rather than configuring each archive individually.

Each selected archive is added with the same name and auto search as in Fotoware Veloz. Because archive configurations in Fotoware Veloz and Fotostation do not have a one-to-one mapping, you also choose which archives to add, assign them to a Fotostation group, and configure the Fotostation-specific options that apply to them.

Auto searches that contain dynamic operators require manual adjustment. For more information, see Auto searches below.

To remove all archive entries from a Fotostation group later, use Remove all archives in group.

Note

These commands manage archive entries in Fotostation. They do not create or delete archives, pools, or assets in Fotoware Veloz.

Before you begin

Make sure that:

  • You have your Fotoware Veloz host name and sign-in details.
  • Your Fotostation configuration allows you to create archives.
  • Your Fotoware Veloz account has access to the underlying pools. Access to an archive alone is not sufficient.
  • Your Fotoware Veloz account has permission to manage archives if you want Fotostation to list archive definitions. Without this permission, Fotostation can list the pools you have access to instead.

Tip

Consider keeping the new archive entries in a dedicated Fotostation group. This makes them easier to manage and allows you to remove them together without affecting unrelated entries.

Create Fotoware Veloz archives

  1. In the Fotostation archive panel, right-click a group heading and select Create Fotoware Veloz archives.

  1. In Enter host name, enter your Fotoware Veloz host name or select a previously used server. Select Connect and sign in if prompted.
  2. In Assign to group, select the Fotostation group where you want to add the new entries. The group you right-clicked is selected by default. To create a new group, enter a new group name.
  3. Select the checkbox next to each archive you want to add. The list displays the Name, Pool, and Description for each item. Highlighting a row does not select it. You must select the checkbox to include the archive.
  1. Review the shared options described below. The options you select apply to every archive created in this operation.
  2. Select OK to add the entries to Fotostation. You must select at least one item before OK becomes available. Select Cancel to close the dialog without adding any entries.

The new entries appear in the selected group with the names and auto searches from the selected Fotoware Veloz archives and the shared Fotostation options you selected.

Existing entries are not replaced. If you add the same Fotoware Veloz archive again, another Fotostation entry is created.

Find and review your selections

When selecting archives:

  • Use the filter above the list to show items from a particular Fotoware Veloz pool. This filter is separate from Assign to group, which determines where the entries appear in Fotostation.
  • Select Select all to select every item in the current filtered view. When all visible items are selected, the button changes to Select none.
  • Your selections are retained when you change the pool filter. Select none clears only the selected items in the current filtered view.
  • Select Selected items in the filter to review all selected items. The Selected items count includes selections across pool filters.
  • Connecting again or switching servers clears your current selections.

Pools without an associated archive definition can appear as Unassigned Pool (no auto search). Selecting one creates a Fotostation entry for that pool without an archive auto search.

Configure shared archive options

All seven options are enabled by default. Clear the options that you do not want to allow for the new archive entries.

Option Purpose
Allow subfolder browsing Allows browsing into subfolders.
Allow to drag and drop folders Allows subfolders to be dragged and dropped under the archive.
Allow to delete folders Allows subfolders under the archive to be deleted.
Allow to edit metadata Allows metadata to be edited in the archive.
Allow to edit image Allows images to be edited in the archive.
Allow to 'move' files in Drag and Drop operations Allows files to be moved using drag and drop.
Allow to delete files Allows files to be deleted from the archive.

Note

These are Fotostation archive settings. They do not grant additional permissions in Fotoware Veloz. Server-side access restrictions still apply.

Auto searches

When you add an archive, Fotostation copies its auto search from Fotoware Veloz.

If one or more selected archives contain dynamic operators, Fotostation displays a warning that these operators are incompatible. Review and update the auto searches for the affected archives before using them.

Remove all archives from a group

Note

Remove all archives in group removes every Fotostation archive entry assigned to the selected group. This includes non-Fotoware Veloz entries and entries that were created individually. It is not limited to archives added using Create Fotoware Veloz archives.

To remove the archive entries:

  1. Right-click the group heading in the Fotostation archive panel.
  2. Select Remove all archives in group.
  3. Enter the Fotostation configuration password if prompted.
  4. Check the group name in the confirmation dialog.
  5. Select Yes to remove the archive entries, or No to leave them unchanged.

The group itself remains available. Only the archive entries are removed from the Fotostation configuration. The underlying files, Fotoware Veloz archives, and pools are not deleted, and entries assigned to other groups are unaffected.

To add Fotoware Veloz entries again, run Create Fotoware Veloz archives and select the required items. This creates new entries rather than restoring custom settings from the removed entries.
