In Color Factory Settings, expand the relevant channel and select Color Management.

Open the RGB/Lab tab.

The following dialog appears.

If you select Don’t Color Manage from the Convert RGB/Lab drop-down list, the color space remains unchanged.

If you select To Grayscale, you can select Advanced Options button to choose the amount of contrast enhancement and red, green, and blue ink mix percentages. The default values are R=30, G=59 and B=11. Also, when converting to grayscale you can adjust endpoints by selecting Endpoint Adjustment.

By default, the selected input profile is applied to all RGB and Lab images in the channel, provided a profile hasn’t been embedded in the input file, in which case that profile will be used instead. To ignore any embedded profile in the input files, select Always ignore embedded input profile to ensure that Color Factory will apply settings from the selected input profile to all RGB and Lab images in the channel. To embed the output profile in the processed output file, select Embed profile in output file.

When converting from RGB to RGB, you have the option of enabling Gamut Management, which makes it possible to have Color Factory make a test conversion of the RGB image in order to give an indication of the result of a future conversion of the output RGB image to CMYK. In the Gamut Management dialog, you can choose a CMYK profile and the type of rendering intent, and choose the measures to be taken if a certain amount of pixels are out of gamut. One option is to edit the image text of the output file to make a note that a future CMYK conversion of the image will produce a large amount of out-of-gamut pixels.

RGB to CMYK conversion

When converting from RGB to CMYK some extra options become available:

Force white point to zero dot: Certain ICC profiles have an absolute white level slightly higher than zero. Enable this feature for Color Factory to override the profile setting and adjust the image white point to zero.

Rendering intent: Choose the method used for the CMYK conversion. For images on print, Perceptualor Relative Colormetric is recommended.

Select SmartRender™ for Color Factory to apply the rendering intent selected by clicking SmartRender™ Settings. Then, the result of the rendering will be compared with the original input file. If more than the specified amount of pixels is out of gamut, Color Factory will process the image according to the desired procedure as specified in the SmartRender Settings dialog.
