This feature requires Extended Actions which are only available to Fotoware Main Users and Fotoware Pro Users.
Applying a macro to the original file
You can apply a metadata macro to the source asset when an action runs. For example, you can update a metadata field to record where a copy of the asset was sent.
Note
If you apply a metadata macro to the source asset and also send a copy to another destination, the metadata changes made to the source asset are not automatically applied to the copy. To modify the metadata of the copy, configure a separate macro on the Destination asset tab.
Applying a macro to the source asset
- Open the action's properties and select the Source asset tab.
- Select Apply Metadata Macro.
- Select the fields you want to modify and specify how to modify them. You can append, prepend, or replace field content, and modify multiple fields in the same macro.
Tip
To clear the contents of a field, select Replace and leave the value empty.

- Open the Destination asset tab.
- Select Apply Metadata Macro.

Using dynamic variables in macros
You can use dynamic variables in macros to insert information such as the requesting user or job into metadata fields.
