Fotoware Alto - September 8, 2026 update
Improvements
3D model previews
You can now preview 3D models directly in Fotoware Alto, with support for GLB files, animation playback, and a wireframe view.

This is our first step with 3D, and we are releasing it early so you can start working with 3D assets in Fotoware Alto. Support will roll out gradually as we learn what you need from it. For more information, see 3D model support.
New document rendering engine
Office documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and diagrams are now rendered with a new engine that improves stability and produces previews across a wider range of file types, including additional diagram formats. The new engine also lets us increase the maximum size of documents we render, and is the foundation for our upcoming 3D work. The current limit is still 100 MB, and we plan to raise it in an upcoming release.
Configurable support contact
Administrators can now configure the support email address shown to users, so people can reach the right person when they need help. The feedback shown after a new account is submitted for review has also been improved.
Modernized interface foundation
The user interface has been upgraded to the latest generation of our front-end framework. This improves performance and security, and lets us build and ship new features faster in the future.
Fixed issues
The following issue is fixed in this release:
-
List sorting follows the displayed language
Lists are now sorted by the language you are currently viewing rather than the standard language, so the order matches what you see.
Known issues
-
Language switching with Chrome's unload-event flag enabled
System and content language switching does not work in Chrome when the Deprecate the unload event flag atchrome://flags/#deprecate-unloadis set to Enabled. This affects Chrome version 152 and later. Chrome reports a permissions policy violation because the application uses the unload event, which is blocked when the flag is enabled. As a workaround, set the flag to Disabled or Default and restart Chrome. This is a non-blocking issue, and a fix is planned for an upcoming release.
-
Smaller visual and interaction issues from the new front-end framework
The modernized interface foundation is a major update that touches many parts of Fotoware Alto. We are working to resolve the smaller visual and interaction issues it introduced.
-
Rendering differences with the new document engine
- Watermark orientation is not preserved on ODT files.
- Some documents with multiple columns and tight margins may look different from the original.
- Spreadsheets with more than 10,000 rows may be cut off.
Changes to API and SDKs
There are no API changes with this release. To see previous changes, see: API changes
If you use our SDKs or samples like the Content Portal, we recommend updating to the latest version:
If you would like to test your changes in advance, we can provide you with a functionally limited clone running on the latest preview codebase in our stage environment (free provisioning of such a stage system depends on your subscription plan or partner status).
