License Note: CC BY SA, Source: Flickr, Creator: Mikael Grevsten, Language: EN, Original Title: Engelberg-Titlis, Note: creds to A. Fredriksson for LR settings

Titlis is a mountain in the Uri Alps, located on the border between the cantons of Obwalden and Bern. At 3238 meters above sea level, it is the highest summit of the range north of the Susten Pass, between the Bernese Oberland and Central Switzerland. The Titlis is home to the world’s first revolving cable car, which is related to revolving historic file versions in this Picturepark release.

Release Details

These are the final release notes.

Export Statistics

Analyze your content performance by exporting usage statistics along with metadata to gain real insights.

Picturepark now supports you in analyzing your content performance by exporting Picturepark statistics, matching it with metadata exports, and reviewing it in the Business Intelligence app of your choice.

The exported statistics file contains all relevant metrics, such as total downloads, from a share or from embed links, your total shares and total embeds, and more.

Using the new Picturepark statistics, you can gain insights into:

  • How your content is used throughout the company and by external partners.
  • How you can improve your content by removing content with low engagement.
  • Which topics and authors perform best among your audience.
  • Which content formats perform best for your audience.
  • Validate the usage of copyrighted content vs. copyright-free content.
  • Which content requires editorial updates hinted at via stagnating usage.

In short, the new Picturepark statistics enable you to make better strategic decisions about which content to create or purchase, use and maintain, and promote with high priority.

The new statistics Export icon is in the Content Browser. Clicking it opens the Export dialogue, where you can select which statistics to export.

Options are provided so you can:

  • For example, select the time span for the exported statistics from April 1st to April 30th.
  • Separate statistical actions by API clients to compare where the content was used via Picturepark directly, portal, microsite, or another integrated system, such as your Web CMS.
  • Modify the granularity of your statistics, aggregated to hourly or up to daily slices.

Basic statistics are available for all Picturepark premium and enterprise subscription plans via UI and a dedicated API endpoint. Note that user actions on content in Picturepark become tracked from this Picturepark Titlis release (previous usage data is not available for export) and that additional metrics and UI components will be added with upcoming releases.

File Version History

View the complete version history of a file content item, download previous versions of the file, or selectively delete them via UI and API.

In Picturepark, you can now see the file history and download previous versions of a historized file content item, or, if you prefer, you can delete the file history. When you change content in Picturepark, a copy of the previous version is saved automatically. This way, it is easy to see changes to a Content Item and who made them, and to restore an earlier version if needed.

After replacing a content item, the file history icon will appear in the content item toolbar. From there, you can access each file version and see its file name, the time, and the name of the user who created the version and downloaded or removed a particular version.

Historic versions are available for Premium and Enterprise subscription plans, accessible via UI and API, and apply to File Content items only (not available for Virtual Content items).

Optimized UX at Login

Improved user experience and branding when registering a new account and logging in, especially if federated from Active Directory.

Various changes on the login page improve the user experience when registering a new account with Picturepark and logging into Picturepark, especially when the user has been federated from an external identity provider (IdP) such as ADFS or Azure AD.

Aside from improved user guidance, the signup page's branding has now been slightly improved by reserving more prominent space for customer logos and offering a custom accent color instead of the Picturepark teal. This particularly improves sign-on workflows when users become federated onto third-party applications such as content portals.

For Editors

The default pattern for date-time fields is changed to a better readable format DAY-MONTH-YEAR HOUR-MINUTE e.g. 5-Jun-2021 12:55. See the documentation for options to change the default date display pattern.

For Admins

  • Option to not invite the user on creation with the automatic mail from Picturepark in case you want to promote these users in a personalized welcome email from your preferred mail program.
  • The identity server profile button is added to the user account page.

Upcoming Major Release

Our next major version of the Picturepark Content Platform is scheduled for release by October this year (TBC), featuring a major overhaul of the current User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) - based on valuable customer feedback.

Customers will become informed in more detail during the summer period and we will offer dedicated webinars for Picturepark Customers and Partners.

New Picturepark Apps and Connectors

New Apps & Connectors are now available in collaboration with technology partners for the Picturepark Content Platform, such as smint.io Content Portals and the MuseumPlus Connector.

Content Portals from smint.io
The Content Portal from smint.io provides a highly customizable web browser-based portal for serving curated content from Picturepark to a target audience, ideal for a wide variety of uses.

  • Share content collections: to internal or external stakeholder groups in a branded way; think brand kits.
  • Highly flexible: add as many or as few custom pages as you see fit; think campaign landing pages.
  • Safe and secure: you decide exactly who has access to specific content; think corporate communication content.
  • Share friendly: built-in support for Picturepark’s own share functionality; think ad-hoc press kits.
  • Customizable design: borrow from a component SDK or apply your own CSS; think WYSIWYG.

Content use-cases can vary massively, that’s why the smint.io Content Portal is so highly customizable. It allows you to decide on the application you want to use it for and build the web portal exactly the way you want it. Whether that includes adapting it to fit your brand guidelines or including as much, or as little content, as you desire directly from within Picturepark. No more copying files around, no more content scattering.

MuseumPlus Connector
De-mystify the complexities of collection management with seamless integration between Zetcom’s MuseumPlus platform and Picturepark. Combine the strengths of each platform, access Picturepark assets from within MuseumPlus, and benefit from automatically updated previews. Let MuseumPlus’s tailored collection management options synergize with Picturepark’s expertise in digital asset management.

  • Images or other media content from Picturepark are directly shown with the corresponding objects in MuseumPlus; no need to change the system.
  • No high-res duplicates: the media content remains mastered and stored in Picturepark, it’s always kept in sync with MuseumPlus.
  • Object metadata is synced from MuseumPlus to Picturepark, where it enriches all media content and improves Picturepark’s search by using object information.
  • Picturepark ensures that only images which meet certain quality and other criteria can be previewed in MuseumPlus.

Changes to API & SDKs

Please note that the following API changes and SDK`s are tentative and thus they can change until the release date.

With the upcoming Picturepark Release “Titlis” (10.10) we will also introduce some API Changes. Please find details here: https://picturepark.com/apichanges

Please check if those changes will affect your integration and adapt your Source Code. If you use our SDK`s or samples like the Content Portal, we recommend updating to the latest version:

  • Picturepark.SDK.DotNet
  • Picturepark.SDK.TypeScript
  • Picturepark.SDK.Samples (including Content Portal)

If you want to test your changes in advance, we can provide a test account that runs already on the new version, for free or a charge, depending on your subscription plan.

Changes to System Requirements

From April 2021 on we will no longer support the Microsoft Edge browser (version 18, non-Chromium version) for which support has already been canceled by Microsoft by the end of March 2021.

See additional information on Edge support by Microsoft: Consult our documentation to see which Web Browsers are supported for the Picturepark Content Platform.

Bug Fixes

Aside from various improvements to the overall stability of the system, bug fixes have been applied in the backend, as well as updates made to versions of components we use. The following bugs have been fixed with this release:

  • A bug was fixed in the Content Picker share feature, now informing a user that she has permission limits for sharing content.
  • The logo no longer disappears on switching the language on the login page.
  • Users which are logged in and get archived are now immediately logged out.
  • A bug was fixed preventing the main menu from expanding after switching the language.
  • In the Content Portal on downloading multiple selected items, only one was downloaded.
  • After changing the IDS password the user was not logged out after an hour.
  • In Transfers, XMP metadata and EXIF metadata are now displayed again.
  • In the Batch Editor aborting an owner change will now correctly revert all changes and keep the correct owner.
  • In multiline fields, the scrolling is fixed when the text area is focused.
  • Deleted users are no longer shown as Ids in the Content Browser filter facets.
  • The sort in the Content Browser in the Excel Roundtrip App is now taken from the channel settings and not always set to relevance
  • In Layers, it is now prevented to remove sorting on a field that is used as a Channel sort field.

Various changes on the login page improve the user experience when registering a new account with Picturepark and when logging into Picturepark - especially when the user has been federated from an external identity provider (IdP) such as ADFS or Azure ADS.

Aside from improved user guidance, the branding of the signup page has now also been slightly improved by reserving more prominent space for customer logos and offering a custom accent color instead of the Picturepark teal.
