Where are the taxonomy trees located?

If you're using the main FotoWeb interface, this topic explains how to navigate taxonomies there.

When taxonomy navigation has been enabled for an archive and the taxonomy has been built, users can use the taxonomy nodes for navigation and filtering in the archive.

In the Pro interface you find the taxonomies in the left side panel. First open an archive on the Archives tab, then switch to the Filters tab where the taxonomies are shown.

Understanding how the nodes work

Because a taxonomy can be hierarchical you will be able to "drill" into the hierarchy by clicking on the + icon next to a node to expand it. (Depending on how the system has been configured you may also have flat structures of metadata in some taxonomies.)

Light gray nodes

These are nodes that do not activate a query but may contain child items that do. Simply click on the node to see what child items are available.

Black nodes

The nodes with black type in their labels produce a query and can be clicked to filter the content you see in the archive accordingly.

Selecting several filters

When you reach a level in the taxonomy that has several entries that produce a query, you can create a combined filter that shows the assets that match all the taxonomy entries you've selected. Press Ctrl (Command on Macs) while clicking the items you want to filter by to select more than one. The combined query will be processed and the results displayed accordingly.

Note: Applying several filters within a single taxonomy shows the combined results of those filters (using an OR search)
If you apply filters across two different taxonomies, the criteria selected in all taxonomies must be present to produce hits (AND-search)
