To create new metadata fields for use in your DAM system, you must first create a new namespace to contain them.

Creating a namespace
- Go to File > Configuration and select the Metadata node.
- Select Configure.
- Right-click on the Namespaces node and choose Add namespace.
- In the Name field, enter a descriptive name.
- In the Alias field, enter an alias for the namespace. Use lowercase letters only and no spaces.
Tip: If you're uncertain about the alias, look at the other namespaces to see what their aliases look like.
- In the URL field, enter a unique URL. It's a good idea to use your business domain as part of the URL. For example, it can look something like this: http://ns.fotoware.com/academy/1.0/ (don't use this exact URL).
- Select OK to save the namespace.
