Cloning a workflow
Table of Contents
The Clone feature allows you to quickly duplicate an existing workflow (including nodes, logic, configuration, and triggers) and use it as a starting point for a new one.
This is especially useful when building recurring or similar workflows, as it saves time by eliminating the need to recreate them from scratch and reducing the risk of errors. Instead of recreating workflow flows, you can now start from a working foundation and adapt it as needed.
When you clone a workflow, the system duplicates:
- All nodes
- Connections and logic
- Configuration settings
- Triggers and inputs (validated where required)
However, if the existing workflow has a scheduled end date, this is not copied to the cloned workflow.
Editing the cloned workflow does not affect the original; it remains unchanged.
Note
Workflows that are enabled cannot be cloned; they must be disabled first.
Cloning a workflow
- On the Dashboard, select ... for the workflow you would like to clone and select Clone.
- In the Clone workflow dialog that opens, enter a name for the cloned workflow. The default value is Copy of [original name].
- Enter a description (optional).
- Select Clone.
- The cloned workflow opens in the building space so you can edit the configuration as needed. The new workflow is listed on the Dashboard with Disabled status by default. Once you have made the necessary changes, you can enable it.
Note
FTP groups cannot be cloned because they can belong to only one workflow.
If you clone a workflow with a New Asset Upload node that has an FTP group configured, you must reconfigure the FTP group in the cloned workflow.
