Video on how to search, filter, and find your content.

In Fotoware Alto, you have 476 Content Items (videos, images, brochures, etc).

1. You open the Product content channel. You see 28 Content Items.
   The channel filters all corporate content inside this Fotoware Alto for product content (channel filter).
2. You search for apple. You see 6 Content Items.
   Fotoware Alto searches through all searchable values (search index, indexed fields) and shows only apple content.
3. You filter by Technical Product Sheet. You see 2 items.
   Fotoware Alto searches for the tag, gets an ID, and filters all items in this list for this ID (Tagbox Filter).
4. You select Share. You share only 2 items.
   Fotoware Alto will only share the technical product sheets of apples in product content (in other words, your result set). The number next to the action indicates how many items you operate. If you select one of the two, you will only share the selected item.

Open the content item detail view by double-clicking on the Content Item in the Content Browser, or by right-clicking and selecting Details. You can also select a Content Item and then select Edit from the toolbar or context menu. The numbers next to Edit indicate the affected Content Items.

Tip: You can use keyboard shortcuts when single editing.

You can also select a single item inside the Batch Editor. In this case, the numbers on the Save button show the items affected by the edit.

Users can batch add, edit, and remove Layers, Virtual Items, Permissions, and Owners by:

• clicking on edit all in the toolbar (with nothing selected, with multiple items selected)
• right-clicking on content and selecting the edit menu item retrieves the ID, and filters all items in this list for the context menu
• clicking on the edit icon in the notifications
   

Batch Editor layout

The Batch Editor has the following layout:

1. The selected content items are displayed on the left. List view is the default, but you can change this (and the order) by selecting the Select sorting icon.
   
   
    
2. The editing functions are on the right. The number beside the layer indicates how many items opened in the batch editor have the layer assigned.
   
   

Edit behavior

Select a layer field value to activate edit mode. You can assign a layer, update layer and layer field values, change virtual item content, modify permissions, or transfer ownership for the selected content items.

If necessary, you can filter your selection in edit mode by selecting certain content items from the original selection (by holding down the Ctrl key). This is useful if you want to make changes to only certain content items.

Metadata

When you edit a layer field value, only the content items with that Layer applied will be updated.

Example: If you select 11 items and only 2 of them have the Basic information layer, only those 2 items will be displayed in the content browser while you are editing, and only those 2 items will be updated with any changes you make. To apply the Basic information layer and values to all of the items in your original selection, select Assign Layer to <number> content items.

When making changes, the number of content items to which the change is being applied is displayed on the relevant button:

You can select existing tags, open a preview, view details, or add a tag to the metadata form on the right by selecting the corresponding icon. When you add the tag to the form, you can then select to add, overwrite, or remove it. For more information, see Field specialties.
 

Permissions

To add permission sets, select Add. Select the permission sets you would like to add, then select OK. Select Save.

To delete permission sets, select Remove for each permission set.

To apply a permission set to all selected items, select Check all.

Owner

To transfer ownership, select Transfer, then search for another owner. Select the new owner from the dropdown list and select Save.

The icons triggering different behaviors are shown next to the Layer, Permission Set, or Owner:

	Save items	The number of content items affected in this operation.
	Check all	Apply permission sets to all items in my selection.

Copy metadata

When updating multiple items with the same metadata values in Batch Editor, you have the option to copy an existing metadata value from a content item into the editing form. Reusing existing metadata values helps maintain accuracy and consistency. 

To do so, right-click a metadata value (in the left pane) and select Add to editor. The metadata value is copied into the corresponding field in the batch editing form (right pane). Make the required edits and save the changes.

In the example below, the date value is only set for one of the selected content items and is missing for the others. Right-click on the Date field value and select Add to editor.
 

The date is added to the Date Field for all of the selected content items in the editor. 
 

The Save button now displays the number of selected items (6). Select Save to save the changes.
 

• Batch Editing is available for indexed fields ("included in filters") and non-indexed fields.
• Multi fieldset fields cannot be edited in Batch Editor.
• You will not see fields with calculated values in the Batch Editor, as these cannot be edited; their values are generated and are only visible in view mode.  
• Dynamic View fields are visible only in view mode, not in the Batch editor.
• Select a tag to see more information about it. You can also display options to preview the tag, see more details about it, or add it to the form on the right, where you can add, overwrite, or remove the selected tag.
• On the form, select the dropdown list next to the tag to access the add, overwrite, and remove options.

• Add – add your input; existing tags remain unchanged
• Overwrite – overwrite with my input; remove existing entries.
• Remove – remove my input (if available) from this field and leave other entries unchanged; for example, remove Food.
