Consent Management

The new Consent Management search and filtering functionality is automatically available to all customers who already use Consent Management. No additional configuration is required to enable it. 

• Consent filters can now be configured centrally and applied to archives. Administrators define and manage filtering criteria from one location, and apply the same global filters consistently across multiple archives.
   
• You can filter archived assets by consent status and category, making it quicker to locate assets approved for a specific media channel and identify those still requiring consent.
   
• Consent filters can be applied to security groups in an archive's access list, ensuring users see only assets that meet the defined approval criteria. This gives more granular control over content visibility and data privacy.
   
• Consent Management filters have been added to the Selection widget, allowing assets to be filtered by consent status when selecting content for publication.  
   
• A Clear link has been added to the Consent filters in the navigation pane so you can quickly reset your filter selections. For consistency, the Clear all link for taxonomy filters has been renamed to Clear.
    
• Consent emails and forms can include a configurable contact link, in addition to or instead of a contact email address, so you can direct signees to your own information page. You can also hide the email section in consent request emails. The Contact email field in Consent Management templates has been renamed accordingly, and its validation now accepts both email addresses and website links.
   
• The I am signing as a guardian checkbox is more prominent and visually separated from the terms text, so that guardians are less likely to overlook it when accepting the terms and conditions.
   
• The warning message for active consent templates without assigned users now clarifies that specific users or groups must be given access before the template can be used.
   
• The Consent Form template editor no longer triggers password manager prompts when you customize the email header and text fields.

Site configuration and administration

• Improved MongoDB connection security by adding support for TLS encryption and authenticated database connections. This enables more secure communication between Fotoware On-premises components and external MongoDB deployments.For more information, see Enable TLS and authorization for your MongoDB deployment .
   
• In Site Configuration > Archives, Consent Management  and Consent filter have been added to the list of filters so administrators can customize the view and identify archives with these specific settings without opening each archive individually.
   
• Filtering is available for archives and access lists, making it faster to search through extensive records.
   
• Taxonomy filter configuration has been simplified. Selected fields automatically move to the top of the list and have drag handles, so you can reorder filters by dragging instead of deselecting and re-selecting them. For more information, see Enabling taxonomy navigation in an archive.
   
• Improved default settings when creating new archives: search engine indexing is now disabled by default, and the access control list is no longer pre-populated.
   
• Newly added users or groups in an archive's access list are automatically selected and scrolled to, so the correct entry is highlighted immediately, and permissions are not accidentally changed for the wrong item.
   
• Users and groups management has been improved. You can now search for a user or group by their ID, deselect multiple users at once instead of removing them one by one, and clear the search field in Users/Groups with the new Clear (×) button.
   
• Mapping SAML groups to Fotoware groups is now handled centrally in the single sign-on settings, which reduces duplicate configuration in individual group settings. As a result of this change, the SAML group name field has been removed from the General tab on the group settings page. For more information, see Managing groups using SAML.
   
• Browser autocomplete and autofill are disabled on Site Configuration screens, such as the fields used to create new users and to configure email server settings, so saved credentials are not filled into configuration fields.
   
• Revision history now retains the identity of users who made changes, even if their accounts have later been deleted. This ensures a complete and accurate audit trail for historical records.

General use

• You can now edit built-in fields directly in the Upload dialog (Title, Description, Keywords, Rating, Status, and Notes). These fields are available in the new General section, so you no longer need to add them to a region as a workaround. To avoid duplicate fields in the Upload dialog, review your metadata views and remove any built-in fields that have been added to regions. For more information, see  Creating a metadata view.
   
• The maximum upload file size has been increased to 50 GB, up from 25 GB. 
     
• The manual date selector no longer adds a default time. After you select a day, the field displays only YYYY-MM-DD. Previously, it appended 00:00:00 UTC in local time, which did not comply with the XMP date and time specification and could set the date to the previous day for users in a time zone west of UTC.
   
• The default product name has been updated from FotoWeb to Fotoware across page titles and site templates for consistent branding.
   
• The side panel scrollbar in the Main interface is easier to use. Previously, the panel resizing tool was often triggered instead of the scrollbar; the scrollbar now has a larger hit area and improved responsiveness. 

File formats and media processing

• FFmpeg 8 is now supported, which improves video transcoding performance and compatibility. To ensure compatibility and continued support, customers should upgrade to FFmpeg 8, as older versions are no longer supported.
   
• HEIC and HEIF files are now fully supported in Fotoware On-Premises, including thumbnail and preview generation.
   
• Support has been added for Canon HIF files. For more information, see Supported file formats.
   
• PS (PostScript) files are now treated as vector graphics, which improves how they are processed and displayed.
   
• Processing of large documents, such as PDFs, has been improved to reduce bottlenecks and improve performance.
   
• PDF preview generation is more reliable and delivers higher-quality output.
   
• Audio playback has been improved, with support for more audio file formats.
   
• Support for higher video and audio bitrates has been added, improving the handling of high-quality media.
