Why use Google Analytics? Enabling Google Analytics on your site Can't find the Tracking ID? If you have no experience with Google Analytics

Note: Built-in support for external tracking tools is deprecated and was set to End of Life on April 1st, 2024. These tools include Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and PIWIK.

Why use Google Analytics?

Although FotoWeb has event logging functionality for logging most system events to a database and for reports on-site activity, the key benefit of using Google Analytics is to learn how users navigate your site by tracking page loads.

While the Fotoware Event Log tracks work events, such as uploads, metadata updates, and processing of assets using Actions, Google Analytics can provide insights into how users navigate your site.

Enabling Google Analytics on your site

Before enabling Google Analytics on the FotoWeb site, you need a unique tracking code from Google Analytics. This can be obtained from your Google Analytics account.

  1. From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site Configuration > Reporting > Tracking.
  2. Enter the tracking code in the GA Tracking Code field.
  3. If you also have a Google Tag Manager (GTM) account, you can enter the Google Tag Manager container ID in the Google Tag Manager container ID field.
  4. Select Save. Due to FotoWeb caching mechanisms, it can take a little while to propagate the changes.

Can't find the Tracking ID?

If you can't find the Tracking ID in the Google Analytics dashboard, see this Google support article.

If you have no experience with Google Analytics

If you're unfamiliar with Google Analytics, you can learn more on the Google Analytics Training & Certification site.
