FTP group permissions

Groups have all the necessary permissions required for uploading and managing files. There are no other specific permissions or roles associated with groups.

In Flow, you can create, view, edit, and delete FTP groups, as well as add users to groups.

Note:

  • Any assets placed in the FTP group will automatically trigger associated workflows before being removed.
  • FTP Groups cannot be used for permanent storage.

Creating FTP groups

To create a new group:

  1. Go to Settings > FTP Server.
  2. Select Create group.
  3. Enter a name for the group (this can be changed later).
  4. Select Save. The next step is to add users to the group. You can share credentials with these users so they can connect to the server.

Adding users to an FTP group

  1. Go to Settings > FTP Server.
  2. Select the group to which you would like to add a user.
  3. Select Create user.
  4. Enter a username. This field is mandatory. The same username cannot be used in different groups; each username must be unique.
  5. Enter a description. This is usually used as the user's name. This field is optional.
  6. Select SFTP or FTPS from the Protocol drop-down list.
  7. Enter the user's email address. This field is optional.
  8. Enter a password and confirm it. The password must meet the password policy criteria. This field is mandatory.

Note: The password is displayed only once during creation. Make sure to copy it at that time, as it cannot be retrieved later. However, you can change the password if needed.

  1. Select Save. Users are enabled by default. You can disable a user in the user list within the group.

Viewing groups

You can view the group details.

Select ... for the group and then select View.

Generating a SAS URI

  1. Select ... for the group and then select Share.
  2. Select an expiration date and time for the SAS URI.
  3. Select from the available permissions. Read and List is the default selection.
  4. Select Generate.
  5. You can copy the generated URI to use, for example, with an Azure file explorer or another third-party tool.

Editing groups

You can edit the properties of an existing group by renaming the group as needed.

  1. Select ... for the group and then select Rename.
  2. Enter the new name and select Save.

Deleting groups

When deleting a group, it's important to:

  • Disable users: Close all open connections by disabling users associated with the group.
  • Delete users: Remove all users within the group.
  • Acknowledge data loss: Deleting a group will also delete the temporary storage associated with it. Any images in the temporary storage that haven't been uploaded to the solution will be lost.
  1. Select ... for the group and then select Delete.
  2. Confirm the deletion. This will permanently delete all users associated with this group and any assets that were not uploaded on the server. This cannot be undone.
