Symptom Resolution Mac OS Windows

Symptom

When choosing a custom location for storing the files placed in an InDesign document using the FotoWeb Desktop Extension, the location is not stored permanently. The next time you start InDesign, the path field is blank or incorrect, or it cannot be changed or stored.

Resolution

  • Exit InDesign, then delete the FotoWeb Desktop preferences file for InDesign as follows:

Mac OS

  • In the Mac Finder, select Command-Shift-G to go to a specific folder. Then enter:
~/Library/Preferences

and select OK.

  • Locate the subfolder called StageManager.... (there will be a number of arbitrary digits and letters in the folder name). Open the Local Store subfolder and delete the Prefs_INDD.xml.
  • Restart InDesign, open the FotoWeb Desktop Extension, and re-set the location for storing placed images.

Windows

  • In Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder:
 C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming
  • In that folder, locate a subfolder called StageManager... (there will be a number of arbitrary digits and letters in the folder name). Open Local Store subfolder and delete the Prefs_INDD.xml file.
  • Restart InDesign, open the FotoWeb Desktop Extension, and re-set the location for storing placed images.
