Fotoware Alto - October 2026 update
Improvements
Create shares before adding assets
You can now create an empty share and distribute its link before content is available, without needing to add placeholder files. Add assets manually later, or use a new business rule action to automatically add matching assets based on defined criteria, such as metadata.
For example, you can create a share for an event and send the link to recipients before the event begins. As photos and other matching assets arrive in Fotoware Alto, they can be automatically added to the share. Recipients keep the same link while the collection grows, giving you an easy way to prepare content delivery in advance.
For more information, see Share and Enqueue Add Content Item to Shares.
Preview HEIC and HEIF images
Fotoware Alto can now generate previews and thumbnails for uploaded HEIC and HEIF images and use them with existing image output formats. This means you can work with HEIC and HEIF images without first converting the original files to another format.
For more information, see Supported file formats.
Identify 3D file formats
GLB and GLTF files now have dedicated icons, making these file formats easier to identify in Fotoware Alto.
Preserve image color profiles
Generated images now retain the original ICC color profile when no output color profile is configured. If an output color profile is configured, it takes precedence over the original profile.
For PNG output from CMYK originals, see the known issue below.
Fixed issues
The following issues were fixed on October 28, 2026:
-
EXIF orientation applied correctly when processing images
Images containing EXIF orientation information could be cropped or resized before the orientation was applied, resulting in incorrect crops or dark or blank embedded images. -
Korean text included in PDFs generated from PowerPoint presentations
Korean text could be missing from PDFs generated from PowerPoint presentations.
The following issues were fixed on October 1, 2026:
-
Language switching works correctly in Chrome
Fixed an issue previously listed in the September 2026 release notes where system and content language switching could fail in Chrome when the browser blocked the deprecated unload event. -
Improved spacing in responsive layouts
Resolved one of the visual issues introduced by the modernized interface foundation. Stacked content areas no longer display excessive spacing on mobile devices and on desktop screens narrower than 1200 pixels. -
Support contact information displayed correctly
Support contact details were missing from account pages, and email messages, or email addresses were not displayed as clickable links. -
Batch editor shows the correct Permissions and Owner information
The Permissions and Owner tabs in Batch Editor could temporarily display information from all content when collections loaded slowly. -
Color adjustments applied correctly in the media editor
Selected colors were not applied correctly, including hue adjustments from black, white, or gray. -
Color profiles preserved during image generation
Generated images could lose their color profiles during transparency processing, resulting in incorrect colors in downloaded images.
Known issue
-
PNG output from CMYK images
Generating PNG output from a CMYK original requires an RGB output color profile to be configured. Without an RGB output profile, PNG generation fails because PNG does not support CMYK color profiles.
