Assigning a license to a user Assigning a default license to a group Note When a user is a member of several groups with different licenses Note

FotoWeb offers various license types to accommodate different user needs. Learn how to assign a license to a group or a user.

User licenses can be assigned individually by a user administrator (a user with permission to manage user accounts) or automatically via group default licenses, combined with either single sign-on (SSO) or self-service sign-up. The license type controls which functionality the users in that group can access and which user interface they can use.

For a full comparison of the functionality available with the different user licenses, see FotoWeb user licensing feature comparison.

Assigning a license to a user

  1. From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site configuration > Users/Groups.
  2. Select the user to whom you want to assign a license and select Set license.

  3. Select a license from the License dropdown list.
  4. Select Save.

Assigning a default license to a group

When creating a group, you can choose a license type for it.

The default license for a group determines the license of a user who is a member of the group:

  • Every time the user logs in using single sign-on (SSO)
  • When a new user signs up using self-service signup

Note

Changing the default license of a group does not affect the licenses of existing users who are members of the group, except when a user logs in with single sign-on (SSO). For more information, see the SSO documentation.

Tip: In Site configuration > Users/Groups, you can choose several users and select Set license to assign a new license to all the selected users.

When a user is a member of several groups with different licenses

If a user belongs to several groups to which different license types have been assigned, the following prioritization order applies:

  1. Named Pro User
  2. Named Fotoware Main User

Note

Licenses are not "combined" from different groups. FotoWeb finds the group with the "best" license and applies the license from that group to the user.
