When you work with your assets, you will likely want to copy or move certain files to other folders or even to completely different archives. The permissions that control which archives you can copy and move to and from are set on the server side, so this topic deals with how you use the main web interface to select and reorganize your files.

Important

The system administrator can control which archives each user or group can copy and move assets to and from. He can also preset the folder assets are stored in when you copy or move assets to an archive to facilitate processing of files behind the scenes before the asset is placed in its final location.

Moving or copying assets to another archive

After opening an archive, make a selection of assets you want to copy or move to another archive or folder. Drag that selection to the Archives tab on the left hand side of the screen and drop the assets on the archive you'd like to copy/move them to.

If a "Restricted" tooltip shows, you do not have access to copy or move assets to chosen archive.

The default operation is to MOVE the asset(s). Press the Ctrl key (Windows) or Option key (Mac) key to toggle COPY.

When dropping the assets, a Copy / Move dialog box shows up where you can choose the folder in the archive where the assets should be stored. You can also create subfolders. If the administrator has preset a fixed folder for the operation, it executes immediately when you drop the assets.

After opening an archive, make a selection of the assets you want to copy or move to another archive or folder. Drag that selection to the Folders tab on the left hand side of the screen and drop the assets on the folder you'd like to copy/move them to.

To expand a collapsed folder, drag the files over that folder and wait for it to automatically expand.

The default operation is to MOVE the asset(s). Press the Ctrl key (Windows) or Option key (Mac) key to toggle COPY.
