Consent Management filters

Consent Management includes filtering options that help you quickly locate assets based on their consent status or consent categories. By applying Consent Management filtering to an archive, you can narrow results by consent status or category, or both.
Consent filters can be used in two ways:
- Users can apply consent filters interactively in the Navigation Pane to narrow their search results.
- Administrators can assign a predefined consent filter to an archive configuration to automatically limit which assets are shown in that archive.
These features are independent of each other and can be used separately or together.
These filtering options are also available in the Pro interface and the Selection widget.
Using consent filters in the navigation pane
When Consent Management is enabled for an archive, users can refine archive content by selecting one or more consent statuses or consent categories.
The example below shows an archive with consent filters available in the navigation pane.
Note
To make consent filters available in the Navigation Pane, enable the Consent Filters option in the archive's Navigation Pane settings. It is not necessary to assign a consent filter to the archive configuration.

Combining consent filters
When consent filters are applied to an archive and visible in the navigation pane, you can combine them as follows:
- Consent statuses are combined using OR
Assets are included if they match any of the selected statuses. For example, show assets with Full consent or No consent needed.
- Consent categories are combined using AND
Assets must have consent for all selected categories. For example, show assets with consent for both social media and online marketing material use.
- Combining consent status and categories uses AND
Assets must match one of the selected statuses and all selected categories. For example, show assets with Full consent or Partial consent statuses, and with categories approved for both social media and online marketing material use.
Exception
If you select No consent needed together with one or more consent categories, the filter uses OR logic.
This means the result includes assets approved for the selected categories and assets that do not require consent. This allows you to see both fully approved assets and assets that can be used without consent in the same result set.
Using predefined consent filters
Creating a consent filter
- From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon), go to Site Configuration > Consent Management > Filters. The Consent filters view opens, listing any existing consent filters.
- Select Add filter.
- Enter the filter name and, optionally, a description.
- Select a value from the Filter mode dropdown list. For more information about each filter, see Filter modes.
- Select Save. You can now apply this filter to archives as needed.
Filter modes
No filter
You can use this to turn off an active filter.
Filter by statuses
Select one or more consent statuses to filter by. If you select more than one status, they are applied with OR logic, meaning the result must match one or more of the selected statuses, i.e., show assets with Full consent or No consent needed statuses.
Filter by approved categories
- Select the category logic:
- Assets are approved for all the specified categories - the AND logic is applied, meaning the result must match all selected options, for example, assets that have consent for both social media and web page categories.
- Assets are approved for at least one of the specified categories - the OR logic is applied, meaning the result must match one or more of the selected options.
- Toggle the Include assets marked as ‘No consent needed’ option on or off.
- Select one or more categories from the list.
Filter by declined categories
- Select the category logic:
- Assets are declined for all the specified categories - the AND logic is applied, meaning the result must match all selected options, for example, assets that do not have consent for both social media and web page categories.
- Assets are declined for at least one of the specified categories - the OR logic is applied, meaning the result must match one or more of the selected options.
- Select one or more categories from the list.
Applying a consent filter to an archive
After creating a consent filter, you can apply it to one or more archives.
When configured as an archive filter, assets that match the filter criteria are displayed in that archive. Similar to Autosearch, only assets that match the filter criteria are shown.
This archive-level filtering is separate from the Consent filters available in the Navigation Pane, which users can apply interactively when browsing or searching an archive.
