Assigning taxonomies to metadata fields What's next?

Before you can start using taxonomies throughout Fotoware SaaS you need to choose which metadata fields should have taxonomies assigned to them. This topic explains how to enable taxonomies for specific metadata fields.

Assigning taxonomies to metadata fields

If you are a Fotoware SaaS customer, Fotoware can assign taxonomies to metadata fields on request. Contact Fotoware with a list of the relevant metadata field names. You can find the metadata field names using the Metadata View editor via the Site Configuration tool. For more information, see Creating a metadata view.

  1. From the Tools menu (cogwheel icon) menu, select Site Configuration.
  2. Go to Metadata > Metadata Setup. All the metadata fields created on the system are listed and you can set various options pertaining to each field.
  3. To enable a taxonomy for a field, select the Taxonomy checkbox for the relevant field.
  4. In the Plural Namefield, enter the plural name for the field - this is used in headers in the user interface and in the URLs for the taxonomy item. For example, if you enable a taxonomy for the Category field, you can enter Categories in the Plural Name field to display Categories, for example, as a header above the taxonomy when using this for archive navigation.
  5. Select Save.

What's next?

Now you need to enable taxonomy navigation on the archives where you'd like to use this functionality.
